Overview

 

Maintains Transmission Storeroom operations relating to receiving, shipping, inventory of storeroom items and hazardous waste; provides clerical support and generally maintains the base facilities.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

·        Under general supervision, the primary duties include the management of the storeroom operations for issuing tools and materials and maintaining material inventory as required for District operations.

·        Requisitions and receives material shipments, verifies the correctness of all requisitions, shipments and materials received.  Prepares related documents and reports necessary for that operation.

·        Measures and maintains gasoline volume records on a monthly basis and orders delivery shipments when necessary.

·        Must be capable of operating forklifts, hoists and other material-handling and transporting equipment.

·        At times, may be required to make telephone contacts with other Company personnel or outside vendors to verify orders and delivery dates.

·        On some assignments,. may be-required to manage the handling, temporary storage and shipping of hazardous waste.

·        The clerical support duties include typing, filing, telephone and base radio duties, stocking office supplies, routine preparation of various district reports compiling payroll documents,, monitoring the district's Underground Service Alert (USA) receiver, and transmitting related information on the base radio to the field representative as necessary; has custodian-ship of the base petty cash fund.

·        General base facilities maintenance may include mowing lawn, watering shrubbery and other routine gardening duties.  Performs monthly fire extinguisher inspections; receives and distributes mail, puts up and takes down the U.S. Flag each business day.

Contacts

 

Maintains contact with Division Support Services Supervisor and other Company personnel, material and service vendors of outside firms relating to their area of responsibility, local governmental agencies and construction contractors for information relating to construction activities transmitted on the one call notification system receiver.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Knowledge of typing.  Must have valid California driver's license.  Knowledge of division clerical functions, and materials and supply management.  Must pass a pre-qualification examination.

 

Desired Qualifications:

 

Should be self-motivated and capable of working independently, able to perform duties with minimal supervision.  Must be able to converse on telephone and base radio assignments.

 

Other:

 

Should be capable of operating various material-handling and transporting equipment such as forklift, hoist and crane truck.  Must be able to work during emergency situations and pipeline shut-down operations.

 

Physical Demands

 

Medium - Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighting up to 25 pounds with a lifting up to approximately 50 pounds, as required.  On some assignments, may be required to handle, receive, store and ship hazardous waste.  As a normal part of duties, should be knowledgeable in the handling and storing of various hazardous materials used in the district operation.
